GeneratorsIn (generatorsin.com) is a free service that matches Houston-area homeowners with independent generator installers. This policy explains what we collect, how we share it, and the choices you have. We are not a generator manufacturer or an authorized dealer for any brand.
What we collect
- What you enter in our estimate form: ZIP code, details about your home and project (such as home size, AC systems, fuel type, service needed, timeline, budget range and financing interest), your preferred contact method and time, and your name, phone number and email.
- Your consent record: when you check the consent box, we store the exact consent wording you saw, the date and time, your IP address, your browser’s user agent and the page you submitted from.
- How you found us: the first page you landed on, the referring website, and campaign tags in the link you followed (UTM parameters and ad click IDs such as gclid). This is kept in your browser and sent to us only if you submit the form.
- Basic technical data: like most websites, our hosting provider and security tools log IP addresses and browser information to keep the site running and block abuse.
How we use and share your information
When you submit the form, we share your request and contact details with independent installers who serve your area so they can contact you about your project. Depending on how we route your request, it may go to one installer or to a small number of installers (never more than the number stated in the consent box on the form). Installers who receive requests pay GeneratorsIn a referral fee. Under some state privacy laws, sharing information for a fee can count as a “sale” of personal data. You can tell us to stop at any time (see below).
Installers who receive your request are independent businesses. They set their own prices, do their own work, and handle your information under their own privacy practices. They may contact you by phone, text message or email using the details you gave us. We also use your information to run and improve our service, check request quality (for example, spotting duplicate or fake submissions), keep records of your consent, handle billing with installers, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your information to data brokers or unrelated marketers. We may share information with service providers who help us run the site (such as hosting and email delivery), when the law requires it, or as part of a sale or transfer of our business.
Text messages and calls
By checking the consent box, you agree that GeneratorsIn and the matched installers may call or text you about your project, including with automated technology. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out by replying STOP to a text or asking the caller to stop. To stop us from sending your request to any more installers, use the request form below.
Your choices
- Do not sell or share: ask us to stop sharing your information with installers.
- Delete: ask us to delete your request from our records. We will also ask any installer who already received it to stop using it, but we cannot delete records they hold themselves.
- Access: ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
Make any of these requests on our Do Not Sell or Share My Info page. We may need to confirm the request came from you, using the email or phone number you gave us.
Cookies and similar tools
We use your browser’s local storage to remember how you arrived at the site (landing page, referrer and campaign tags) so we can tell which pages and ads bring in requests. Logged-in installers use standard WordPress login cookies. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles of you.
How long we keep information
We keep requests and consent records for as long as we need them to run the service, resolve disputes with installers and meet legal record-keeping needs, and then delete them. You can ask us to delete your request sooner.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted admin access and current software. No system is perfectly secure.
Children
This site is for adults arranging work on their homes. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
